PM Candidature (my first attempt at political satire)

Three politicians Ram, Shyam, Gayam and one common man, Aavam were sitting together.  The politicians were discussing their prospects of becoming PM of a nation one day.

Ram was hell bent on exposing Shyam, Gayam and others, thinking that will give him the trust of people.

Shyam had made few mistakes in the past but in the present kept his focus and attention on the job he had been given and also had a roadmap for the nation.

Gayam was young and had many ideas but no credentials in the field of public service.

Ram tells Shyam and Gayam that you all are thieves and I’ll keep on exposing you.  After this people will have no option other than to elect me as their PM.

Shyam: Beta Ram, Your intentions might be right but you need to address the issues that plague this nation, like Infrastructure Development, Proper Packaging and Marketing, Law Enforcement, Education, Skill Development, etc.  This will ensure that everybody will have something to do and also take the nation forward.

You have to understand every human has a weakness and have made mistakes in the past.  Right now you are young and immature but please understand the public forces.  Your negative approach will not build this nation but make it crumble down.

Ram: Shyam ji I have a lot of respect for things you are doing now but sometimes destruction is needed to get a good starting point. And then all we need to do is frame the constitution and laws correctly.

Gayam: You guys have no clue what you are talking about.  It’s the youth of this country that will build this nation and move it forward.  I have found out that they understand me very well and I feel we are connected.  Also, I have a good reputable background which will definitely help me.

Shyam: You guys need to spend a little time and energy to understand the mantra, “Survival of the fittest”.  If we don’t brand ourselves and do proper marketing we will perish. The fascist forces will destroy us.  China is waiting, S. Korea, Brazil, South Africa, etc are moving fast. We need to emerge the winners in the new world order. We need to utilize the vast natural resources of the country in a wise manner otherwise we can remain stuck with the modern version of imperialism for another few decades.

Aavam: I have been listening to all of you and I have a question for Shyam ji.  Shyamji, I appreciate all what you have been doing till now.  Now how does imperialism come into the picture when we utilize our own natural resources?  Shouldn’t we be utilizing some other country’s natural resources? Won’t that be better?

Shyam:  Correcto! And that’s why I said we need to utilize our natural resources in a wise manner.  This will be determined by our policies.

Ram:  I think natural resources of the country belong to every body in the nation.  It should not only reward the rich but poor also.

Gayam: Yes, Yes, poor people have equal rights to the natural resources of the country.  The youth of today has so many bright ideas. We should capitalize upon their knowledge to find the best use.

Shyam:  Okay, I think we are digressing. What I am trying to say is that the roadmap I have developed for the nation will be enough to get me majority votes.  Also, my other party members will make sure that we get more than a majority by throwing in the communal agenda.

Aavam:  That’s quite shrewd, don’t you think.

Shyam:  Everything is fair in war and politics.

Ram:  Shyamji, maybe you will become PM this time, but remember if you make even a little bit of mistake you will be out.  And mistakes include not tackling the corruption correctly.  If you are unable to solve the corruption issue, I will expose you.

Gayam:  I have the political backing of my mother and other party members.  Our party has ruled the country for 5 decades. We have experience and youth with us.  Wait till you see me becoming the next PM.

Aavam:  Gayam ji, The state of the country is so dismal, thanks to your party ruling for last many decades.  This will certainly change.  I wish we could get the development model of Shyam ji’s vision and unbiased corruption free model of Ram ji.  But it seems we can’t get both.

Aavam (continues): Can you guys form a coalition government … Shyam ji can be the PM and Ram ji can be the Deputy PM.  Deputy PM will keep a corruption check on the PM.  This arrangement can be worth pondering over.

And Gayam ji, aap to GAYE kaam se !!!

But wait, coalition is not possible.  Your philosophies are completely opposite.  One favors capitalism and other is socialist.  Maybe this is the beginning of a new Indian SAGA.  We will have three parties,  one is Capitalist, second is Socialist, third one is just plain Sickular (sic).

Gayam:  Just wait and watch. I’ll employ my Youth Sena to tamper with the polling booth.  Just wait and see!

Aavam: Gayamji, Will that youth sena be secular.
